Wonderfully visual film. There was no mistaking that is was directed by Tim Burton.

Oozing with his signature dark, lighthearted, and quirky style. It was an Unexpected treat to see that this film was not another book based film but more of a mix and match story based on the original 'Alice and Wonderland' masterpieces. It is my feeling that Tim and his team have created a amazingly creative story using Lewis Carroll's imaginative nonsensical characters and wondrous world of underland. Please don't be discouraged if you have read the books and the film does not maintain an accurate account, this seems to be the normal in Hollywood.

The cast of was excellently loaded with all stars such as: Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter(Red Queen), Anne Hathaway (White Queen). Depp and Carter have been seen in other Burton films such Sweeney Todd, These two have a great chemistry and mesh well with Tim's Bizarre Style. However some of Depp's performance had a hint of Captain Jack Sparrow, it fit well with scene and was not to discerning. It is always a treat for me to watch a Burton and Depp film. On a scale one to five I give this film a four.

Alice is an adult now and about to be engaged to be married when she becomes distracted by the white rabbit of course. Only this time The rabbit has purposefully sought out Alice in hope that she will fulfill the underland prophecy and free them from the wicked Red Queens rule. Alice is unsure if she the correct Alice of the prophecy and continues to tell herself that she is dreaming. She remakes all her old friends and continues to save them from losing their heads. In the end she learns that she is the Alice in the prediction and becomes the champion need to save underland. After returning home she starts to set things straight in her live the way, the way she wants them instead of what is expected of her by society.

Yes, the caterpillar is smoking from a water pipe, but there is no reference to marijuana or other drug use, if this bothers you as a parent then by all means preview the film before exposing it to your children.

See the film, watch the old Disney classic, and read the original Alice books, They are all wonderful in their own way.

Another resounding thumbs up for the new Alice in Wonderland, my daughter liked it to Benhameen. I read some Facebook chatter and some teenagers were whining about another Burton-is-oh-so-creative flik, but there's alot to be said about Tim Burton's movies. I think the younger generation (that makes me feel old to say but cripes I'm in my thirties LOL) they take for granted all the weirdness that Burton delivers, but back not too long ago, was practically no where. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the movie, solid review.

I have always love the book and was a bit put off by the deviation. Seeing Alice as a combination of Joan of Arc and then on her way to become the CEO of a large corporation just did not do it for me. Although I did love the look of the movie.
